Who says little girls can’t grow up to be magicians???

October 11, 2008. SYM #42  sponsored a Magical Presentation with a “feminine touch” entitled, “Women in Magic, the Masters of “Ms.” Direction.” A magical lecture and performance by two of America’s top female magicians, Margaret Steele and Jessica Bonvissuto.

Bonvissuto, a teacher and mentor at the Stamford Society of Young Magicians Bill Andrews Assembly #42, will speak to young girls and boys about “Magical Intuition.” Bonvissuto, formerly an assistant to the late Pino Gareri, is also a professional mime who has performed world-wide and studied with David Copperfield and other masters of illusion.  Bonvissuto has also taught at numerous schools including the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Lincoln Center Student Program.

Magician Margaret Steele is a top children’s entertainer in the New York City area and will treat audiences to a stage show featuring two of her signature effects. A musician and composer as well, Steele’s magical musical works have been performed by numerous orchestras on the East Coast as well as featured on The Discovery Channel, the CBC and WNBC.

The event also featured a short movie except from the film, “Women in Boxes,” the first film to document the story of the magicians assistant; the unsung heroes of magic.
